HOMEmade Taco Seasoning Recipe

We love taco Tuesday in our house. Our kids don't care too much for all of the veggie options on the tacos, but we are taking baby steps with them and it's working!

Most pre-packaged items are designed for ease and a busy household.  I realize that it is EASY and cheap to grab a package of taco seasonings in the grocery store when making tacos or fajitas, but I also know that if you look at the label on the back of a package there are ingredients listed that not only can I not pronounce very well, but frankly I don't want to eat either.  Silicon Dioxide? Ethoxyquin? Maltodexrin? WHAT?!!

So, I make my own seasonings.  Not only do I know exactly what I am eating but in the long run it turns out to be SO much cheaper! Score for this household of SIX!!

This seasoning mixture is so versatile that you can use it not only for tacos but as a seasoning for chicken, beef and seafood. The options are endless.   Try it - I know you will be very happy with the flavor and feel a bit of satisfaction that you made it too.

From my HOME to yours, ENJOY!

(makes aprox. 1 CUP (16-18 TABLESPOONS)

6 T. Chili Powder
6 T. Garlic Powder
6 t. Paprika
3 t. Oregano
6 t. Cumin
6 t. Onion Powder
1 1/2 t. Salt
1 1/2 t. Red Pepper flakes
1 1/2 t. Black Pepper
1 1/2 t. Cayenne Pepper

Measure and mix all ingredients.  Once all ingredients have been mixed simply place in a mason jar with lid or sealed container and place in a cool dry area of your pantry or cabinet.

Mix approx. 2-3 tablespoons per 1 pound of meat. Depending on how much seasoning you like or simply sprinkle on meat before baking or broiling!
